Community health workers of rural India

Community health workers – including ASHAs and birthing mothers – are tasked with making healthcare accessible to all. However, these frontline assistants, most of whom are women, function in difficult and challenging conditions with little care for personal safety; their low wages are often delayed and when there is a health crisis they are expected to hold up the nation's healthcare systems.
