This document by the India Meteorological Department contains data for the monthly, seasonal and annual ‘area weighted rainfall’ in India from 1901 to 2014. Data is provided for the entire country and not for each state.

From 1901 to 2014, India recorded higher rainfall in the June-September season than in the other seasons, that is, January-February, March May, and October-December.

In 1901, the country’s annual area weighted rainfall was 1,030.8 millimetres and in 2014, it was 1,045.2 millimetres.

Between 1901 and 2014, the highest annual area weighted rainfall was 1,463.9 millimetres in 1917.

In the same period, the lowest annual area weighted rainfall was 947.1 millimetres in 1972.

The annual area weighted rainfall dipped below 1,000 millimetres in 1905, 1965, 1972, 2002 and 2009.
