ਖਿਸਕਣ ਦਾ ਅਸਰ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। <a href="https://majuli.assam.gov.in/sites/default/files/public_utility/DDMA%20Plan_compressed.pdf">ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਆਫ਼ਤ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਨ ਅਥਾਰਟੀ</a> ਦੀ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਟਾਪੂ &#39;ਤੇ ਜ਼ਮੀਨੀ ਖੇਤਰ ਜੋ 1956 ਵਿੱਚ ਲਗਭਗ 1245 ਵਰਗ ਕਿਲੋਮੀਟਰ ਸੀ, 2017 ਵਿੱਚ ਘੱਟ ਕੇ 703 ਵਰਗ ਕਿਲੋਮੀਟਰ ਰਹਿ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।&quot;ਇਹ ਅਸਲੀ ਸਲਮੋਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ,&quot; ਸਮੂਆ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, &quot;ਸਲਮੋਰਾ ਲਗਭਗ 43 ਸਾਲ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਪੁੱਤਰ [ਨਦੀ] ਵਿੱਚ ਵਹਿ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।&#39;&#39; ਇਹ ਸਲਮੋਰਾ (ਨਵਾਂ) ਤਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਕ ਨਦੀ ਸੁਬਨਸੀਰੀ ਨੇ ਬਣਾਇਆ
ਜਿੱਥੇ ਸਮੂਆ ਪਿਛਲੇ 10 ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਤਨੀ, ਧੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੇਟੇ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ਼ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।





ਸੀਮੇਂਟ ਅਤੇ ਗਾਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਣਿਆ ਕੱਚਾ-ਪੱਕਾ ਢਾਂਚਾ ਹੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਵਾਂ ਘਰ ਹੈ। ਘਰ ਦੇ
ਬਾਹਰ ਬਣੇ ਪਖ਼ਾਨੇ ਤੱਕ ਜਾਣ ਲਈ ਪੌੜੀ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ। &quot;ਹਰ ਸਾਲ, ਬ੍ਰਹਮਪੁੱਤਰ ਨਦੀ ਕਾਰਨ ਸਾਡੀ
ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਵਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,&quot; ਉਹ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਵਾਰ-ਵਾਰ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੜ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਾਰਨ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੀ ਖੇਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ
ਹੋਈ ਹੈ। ਸਲਮੋਰਾ ਦੇ ਸਰਪੰਚ, ਜਿਸਵਰ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, &quot;ਅਸੀਂ ਚਾਵਲ, ਮਾਟੀ ਦਾਲ [ਕਾਲ਼ੀ ਦਾਲ਼] ਅਤੇ ਬੈਂਗਨ
ਜਾਂ ਪੱਤਾਗੋਭੀ ਵਰਗੀਆਂ ਸਬਜ਼ੀਆਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਉਗਾ ਸਕਦੇ; ਹੁਣ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੋਲ਼ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹੀ।&#39;&#39; ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਸਨੀਕ ਕਿਸ਼ਤੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ, ਮਿੱਟੀ ਦੇ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਮੱਛੀ ਫੜ੍ਹਨ ਵਰਗੇ ਹੋਰ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ
ਲੱਗੇ ਹਨ।ਸਮੂਆ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, &quot;ਸਲਮੋਰਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਿਸ਼ਤੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਪੂਰੇ ਟਾਪੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੰਗ ਹੈ,&quot; ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਚਾਪੋਰੀ (ਛੋਟੇ ਟਾਪੂਆਂ) ਦੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ
ਨਦੀ ਪਾਰ ਕਰਨ, ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਕੂਲ ਲਿਜਾਣ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਵਾਪਸ ਲਿਆਉਣ, ਮੱਛੀ ਫੜ੍ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਹੜ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਕਿਸ਼ਤੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਨ
ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੀ ਹੈ।ਸਮੂਆ ਨੇ ਕਿਸ਼ਤੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਕਲਾ ਖ਼ੁਦ-ਬ-ਖ਼ੁਦ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਹੈ; ਉਹ ਤਿੰਨ ਜਣੇ ਮਿਲ਼ ਕੇ ਕੰਮ
ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਕਿਸ਼ਤੀਆਂ ਹਜ਼ਲ ਗੁਰੀ ਲੱਕੜ ਤੋਂ ਬਣਾਈਆਂ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਇੱਕ ਮਹਿੰਗੀ ਲੱਕੜ ਹੈ ਤੇ
ਆਸਾਨੀ ਨਾਲ਼ ਉਪਲਬਧ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਪਰ ਸਮੂਆ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਇਸਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਿਸ਼ਤੀਆਂ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸਲਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ
ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਹ &quot;ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਅਤੇ ਟਿਕਾਊ&quot; ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਇਹ ਲੱਕੜ ਸਲਮੋਰਾ ਅਤੇ ਨੇੜਲੇ
ਪਿੰਡਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਰੇਤਾਵਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖਰੀਦਦੇ ਹਨ।





ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸ਼ਤੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਹਫ਼ਤਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇੱਕ ਛੋਟੀ ਕਿਸ਼ਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜ ਦਿਨ। ਜੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਇਕੱਠੇ
ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਵਿੱਚ 5-8 ਕਿਸ਼ਤੀਆਂ ਬਣਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸ਼ਤੀ (ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ 10-12 ਲੋਕ ਅਤੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਮੋਟਰਸਾਈਕਲ ਸਵਾਰ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ) ਦੀ ਕੀਮਤ 70,000 ਰੁਪਏ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਛੋਟੀ ਕਿਸ਼ਤੀ
ਦੀ ਕੀਮਤ 50,000 ਰੁਪਏ ਹੈ; ਕਮਾਈ ਸਮੂਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ
ਹਿਸਾਬ ਨਾਲ਼ ਵੰਡੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

ਕਿਸ਼ਤੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲ਼ੀ ਆਮਦਨੀ ਟਿਕਾਊ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ
ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਕਿਸ਼ਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਆਰਡਰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਮਾਨਸੂਨ (ਅਤੇ ਹੜ੍ਹ ਦੇ ਮੌਸਮ ਦੌਰਾਨ) ਵਿੱਚ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸ
ਲਈ ਕਈ ਮਹੀਨਿਆਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਸਮੂਆ ਕੋਲ਼ ਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਕੰਮ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਬੱਝਵੀਂ ਕਮਾਈ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ
ਉਮੀਦ ਹੀ।ਜਦੋਂ ਹੜ੍ਹ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਬੋਟਿੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਹਰ, ਰੂਮੀ ਹਜ਼ਾਰਿਕਾ, ਜੋ ਹੁਣ ਆਪਣੀ ਉਮਰ ਦੇ 50ਵੇਂ ਦਹਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਨ, ਲੱਕੜ ਇਕੱਠੀ ਕਰਨ ਨਦੀ &#39;ਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਬਾਲਣ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਬਾਜ਼ਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ
ਵੇਚਦੀ ਹਨ। ਇੱਕ ਕੁਵਿੰਟਲ ਬਾਲਣ ਬਦਲੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਸੌ ਰੁਪਏ ਮਿਲ਼ਦੇ
ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਟਾਪੂ ਦੇ ਮੱਧ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਰਮੂਰ ਅਤੇ ਕਮਲਾਬਾੜੀ ਵਿਖੇ ਕੋਲੋਹ ਮਿੱਟੀ (ਕਾਲੀ ਮਿੱਟੀ) ਤੋਂ
ਬਣੇ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਵੀ ਵੇਚਦੀ ਹਨ, ਮਿੱਟੀ ਦਾ ਭਾਂਡਾ 15 ਰੁਪਏ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਤੇ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਦਾ ਦੀਵਾ 5 ਰੁਪਏ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੇਚਦੀ ਹਨ।&quot;ਆਪਣੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ਼-ਨਾਲ਼
ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਰਵਾਇਤੀ ਰਸਮਾਂ ਵੀ ਗੁਆ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ। ਸਾਡੀ ਕੋਲਹ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਹੁਣ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਪੁੱਤਰ ਵਹਾ

The last available data of the Centre for Media Studies (CMS, Delhi) show us that reports from New Delhi account for 66 per cent of news on the front pages of major dailies. The CMS data also found that just about 0.24 per cent of front page news came out of rural India. The TV channels are not much better.PARI exists to change that.We are a non-profit organisation.
