माजुली बेटावरील या गावात, अनेक दशकांपासून वारंवार येणाऱ्या पुरामुळे शेती व शेती संबंधित इतर उपजीविकेचे मुख्य स्रोत जवळपास नष्ट झाले आहेत आणि इतर काही नष्ट होण्याच्या मार्गावर आहेत. वारंवार येणाऱ्या पुरामुळे स्थिर उत्पन्न देणारे होडी बनवण्यासारखे पारंपारिक व्यवसायदेखील आता धोक्यात आले आहेत
