ਸ਼ਬੀਰ ਹੁਸੈਨ ਭੱਟ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ,&quot;ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਹੰਗੁਲ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਵਾਰ ਦੇਖਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਕੀਲੀਆ ਗਿਆ ਤੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਅਹਿੱਲ ਰਹਿ
ਗਿਆ ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਪੈਰ ਵੀ ਨਾ ਪੁੱਟ ਸਕਿਆ। ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਹੋਰ ਝਲਕ ਪਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਵਾਰ-ਵਾਰ ਉੱਥੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਰਹੇ। ਕਸ਼ਮੀਰ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ਼ ਨਿਵਾਸੀ, ਇਹ ਹਿਰਨ (ਸਰਵਸ ਇਲਾਫਸ ਹੰਗਲੂ)  ਇਸ ਸਮੇਂ <a href="https://wii.gov.in/images/hangulconference_brochure.pdf">ਗੰਭੀਰ ਰੂਪ ਨਾਲ</a> ਖ਼ਤਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ। ਹੁਣ, ਲਗਭਗ 20 ਸਾਲ ਬਾਅਦ ਵੀ 141 ਵਰਗ ਕਿਲੋਮੀਟਰ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਪਾਰਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਸੇ ਜਾਨਵਰਾਂ, ਪੰਛੀਆਂ, ਰੁੱਖਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਫੁੱਲਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ
ਮੋਹ ਜ਼ਰਾ ਵੀ ਘੱਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਇਆ, ਸ਼ਬੀਰ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। &quot;ਇਹ ਹੰਗੁਲ
ਅਤੇ ਹਿਮਾਲਿਆ ਦੇ ਕਾਲ਼ੇ ਭਾਲੂ ਸਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਹ ਜਜ਼ਬਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ।&#39;&#39;



ਇਸ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾਲ਼ &#39;ਦਸ਼ੀਗਾਮ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਕੋਸ਼&#39; ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। &quot;ਮੈਂ ਹੁਣ ਤੱਕ
ਪੌਦਿਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ 400 ਕਿਸਮਾਂ, ਪੰਛੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ 200
ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਅਤੇ ਖੇਤਰ ਦੇ ਲਗਭਗ ਸਾਰੇ
ਜਾਨਵਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਕਰ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹਾਂ,&quot; ਉਹ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਏ ਜਾਣ
ਵਾਲ਼ੇ ਹੋਰ ਜੰਗਲੀ ਜਾਨਵਰ ਹਨ: ਕਸਤੂਰੀ ਹਿਰਨ, ਹਿਮਾਲਿਆਈ ਭੂਰੇ ਭਾਲੂ, ਬਰਫੀਲੇ ਚੀਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਗੋਲਡਨ ਈਗਲ।

ਸ਼ਬੀਰ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਬਤੌਰ ਕੁਦਰਤਵਾਦੀ ਪਾਰਕ ਨਾਲ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਜੁੜੇ ਰਹੇ,
ਉਹ ਇੱਥੇ ਦਸ਼ੀਗਾਮ ਜੰਗਲ ਦੇ ਸੈਲਾਨੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਘੁਮਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਬੈਟਰੀ ਨਾਲ਼ ਚੱਲਣ ਵਾਲ਼ੇ ਵਾਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਡਰਾਈਵਰ
ਵਜੋਂ ਜੁੜੇ ਸਨ। ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ, ਜਿਵੇਂ-ਜਿਵੇਂ ਜੰਗਲ ਤੇ ਜੰਗਲੀ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ
ਵਧਦਾ ਗਿਆ, ਉਹ ਗਾਈਡ ਬਣ ਗਏ। 2006 ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਜੰਗਲੀ ਜੀਵ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਕਰਮਚਾਰੀ
ਬਣ ਗਏ।ਇੱਕ ਸਮਾਂ ਸੀ ਜਦੋਂ
ਜ਼ਾਂਸਕਰ ਪਹਾੜ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਰ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਹੰਗੁਲ ਹਿਰਨ ਵੇਖੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਸਨ। ਪਰ ਵਾਈਲਡਲਾਈਫ ਇੰਸਟੀਚਿਊਟ ਆਫ਼
ਇੰਡੀਆ ਦੀ 2009 ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰ, ਹਮਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਛੁੱਟਣ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਘਾਰ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੇਜ਼ੀ
ਨਾਲ਼ ਗਿਰਾਵਟ ਆਈ ਹੈ। 1947 ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ 2,000 ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਅੱਜ ਘਟ ਕੇ 170-200 ਰਹਿ ਗਈ ਹੈ। <a href="https://wii.gov.in/images/hangulconference_brochure.pdf">ਰਿਪੋਰਟ</a> ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅੱਜ ਉਹ ਦਸ਼ੀਗਾਮ
ਅਤੇ ਕਸ਼ਮੀਰ ਘਾਟੀ ਦੇ ਕੁਝ ਕੁ ਸੈਂਚੁਰੀਆਂ ਤੱਕ ਸੀਮਤ ਹਨ।



ਸ਼ਬੀਰ ਸ਼੍ਰੀਨਗਰ ਦੇ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਤ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲ਼ੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਇਸ ਪਾਰਕ ਤੋਂ ਲਗਭਗ 15 ਕਿਲੋਮੀਟਰ
ਦੀ ਦੂਰੀ &#39;ਤੇ ਸਥਿਤ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ
ਛੇ ਮੈਂਬਰ-ਮਾਤਾ-ਪਿਤਾ,
ਪਤਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਦੋ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹਨ। ਸ਼ਬੀਰ
ਸਵੇਰ ਤੋਂ ਸ਼ਾਮ ਤੱਕ ਸੈਲਾਨੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਨਵਰ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ਼ ਸਮਾਂ ਬਿਤਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। &quot;ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ
ਦਸ਼ੀਗਾਮ ਪਾਰਕ ਦੀ ਯਾਤਰਾ &#39;ਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਦੀ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਬਣਾ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ ਤਾਂ
ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਸਮੇਂ ਇੱਥੇ ਆ ਸਕਦੇ ਹੋ। ਪਰ ਜੇ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਮਕਸਦ ਇੱਥੇ ਜਾਨਵਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਣਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਜਾਂ ਸੂਰਜ ਡੁੱਬਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਆਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।&#39;&#39;

The last available data of the Centre for Media Studies (CMS, Delhi) show us that reports from New Delhi account for 66 per cent of news on the front pages of major dailies. The CMS data also found that just about 0.24 per cent of front page news came out of rural India. The TV channels are not much better.PARI exists to change that.We are a non-profit organisation.
