The pawari is a traditional instrument of the Adivasi communities living in Dang district of Gujarat., and regularly used by them during celebrations and festivals. The instrument is made of wood obtained from locally grown trees, with a horn-like structure attached and painted in a bright blue-silver combination. The pawari is also played in Dhule district of Maharashtra, mainly at weddings. But in Dang, it is frequently used, especially in the Dang Durbar, a spectacular annual three-day festival during the week of Holi. Now however, only a very few individuals play the pawari.

The last available data of the Centre for Media Studies (CMS, Delhi) show us that reports from New Delhi account for 66 per cent of news on the front pages of major dailies. The CMS data also found that just about 0.24 per cent of front page news came out of rural India. The TV channels are not much better.PARI exists to change that.We are a non-profit organisation.
